The following is a list of errors and bugs that have occured while playing the game over the last week.
- Sudden crashes during game play. Out of memory crashes. Crashes while alt tabbed to another application. At least a dozen crashes a day. The play count for my Impulse browser is up to 67 within a week. Three times more than other games I have had over six months.
- Mouse cursor is not accurate. Many times I have clicked on one square only to have the building placed or unit move to a different square. Most the time the wrong square chosen is not even the adjacent square. You do not misclick and have a building land a dozen squares away a dozen times in a row. The game even has to scroll the screen to place the building. Pretty bad when a game can not even do the simple function of cursor placement.
- After cursor error placing a building in an unwanted postion the cancelation of the build order did not refund the resources spent.
- End turn button turns gray and becomes unclickable making the game unplayable.
- Quest location not despawning after you complete a quest. Leaving a square that is unusable.
- Tactical map animation lags. It should not take the computer so long to display attacks and counterattack animations.
- Ranged combat AI (such as catapults, archers, etc) is bugged. Move a unit into adjacent square and it just stands there.
- City name tags on main map some times change their labels to match name of a different city on map. Including a city that belongs to another player.
- Player units and NPC monsters stacking in a square instead of initiating combat.
- Designing custom sovereigns bugs out in the appearance tab unable to select any of the custom features.
- Tactical map exit squares to retreat do not always work.
- Diplomacy trade and treaties is innaccurate. It will display an acceptable result but not accept it.
- NPCs will start conversations to make treaties even if the play lacks the diplomacy values to make an acceptable offer.
- AI pathing does not use proper terrain values when plotting a path. It should favor 0.5 costs squares before 1.0 cost squares, 1.0 cost before 2.0 cost squares.
- After placing a building to be built it the building tab does not always open.
- Units moved out of a square a new city is built in causing it to be undefended and waste moves.
- Spirit Dance spell does not transport anything when casted unless the caster is the army leader. Needs a not allowed message if this is intended function.
- Minor water elemental performed a mutiny and took over level 3 hero's army. Heroes should have higher priority for assuming command.
- When customizing a faction the color tool tips in the appearance tabs are not labeled properly.
- Caravan unable to establish a trade route because right clicking the target city only starts a conversation with the owner of the city.
- Vigilant Minion does not display a mana bar on the strategic map. Unable to determine the amount of mana for determining if arcane doom is available.
- Tactical map freezing only allowing quick resolution button to proceed. Happens at the end of either player or AI turn.
- Improbable results from using auto result feature. Manual is zero damage taken, auto result ends up taking large amounts of damage.
- If you use auto result during the middle of a manual battle the victory screen does not add in anything you did manually before pushing the button.
- After another player dies and his cities are deleted certain animations from the rooftops remain on the strategic map.
- Due to excessive crashes auto save was set to every turn. After some crashes the auto save would roll back multiple turns.
- Empty tiles that do not allow settling or building.
- Unable to select a resource tile to upgrade it if a unit is sitting on it.
- Sovereign organized trait movement bonus is lost when a game is loaded.
- Sovereign organized trait movement bonus is lost when an army is formed in a city and leaves it.
- Army disbanded when it ends its turn in a city.
- Diplomatic interactions showed AI with -2560 Gildar.
- Name of unit (ex. Troll Shaman - Creature) in tool tip box on wrong line in box making it unreadable.
- Research breakthrough window not allowing the scroll down feature to work for the technology info window.
- Portraits and icons on the strategic map of champions units changing to match another champion.
- NPC reputation for marriage. Janusk started with a 1.0 reputation. 145 turns later my sovereign is at 5.2 reputation and Janusk is at 6.0 reputation. Should not have to forfeit xp just to balance out the reputations.
- Champions only unit able to retreat from a tactical battle? Seriously?
I have been trying to be patient and simply play the game. Yet I get constant reminders of wasting my money on an untested and unfinished game. I cna not play it anymore my patience is gone. After about a hundred crashes over the last week combined with all the problems I found I was not really playing or enjoying the game because it did not let me. The final straw was was not being able to place a building in the spot i wanted it and having the game scroll a dozen squares away and place it there over a dozen times in a row.
Whatever reason there was for releasing this game in this condition was not worth it. I will NEVER preorder a Stardock game, nor will I purchase it when it is first released. Anyone willing to release a game in such a state obviously did not care about losing consumer confidence. If you do not care what your consumers think of your own company then you obviously do not care about screwing your consumers.
Sure they say they will make it up at a later date. The promise of buying a finished product was obviously broken, you think they will care about breaking a promise for some form of reimbursement later? Six months down the road this game will most likely be in the same pile of dusty games as ones I bought last year. Only this one gets to the pile faster because you can not play the damn game.
The part that irritates me the most is the fact this COULD have been a great game.
