Once you get a pack of macemen in the beginning with weaponry+logistics, the game gets quite boring.
Well, this is something to discuss. Since everybody can do this it has some sort of balance. Problem is that you HAVE to do it early or you will be wiped out by a rusher (in multiplayer anyways).
Just thought, merging units into formations on the fly would be cool.
Like in GalCiv2.
I keep wondering why so many features from it are in the game, and are implemented only half-way.
They're not overpowered. They have a critical bug which makes them more powerful as they lose members. Combine that with a rather poor AI (for now), and you get a very unbalanced game element. Unbalanced not by design, but in the facts.
