Not the highest priority but it would be nice. Gear in general is pretty bland and having girls in armor that don't look just like the men in armor adds some flavor.

Quick question: Will modders be able to add new weapons/armor/items to the game? Because that would fix this problem, really.

They already have.

Quoting Raven X,
Seriously though, I DO think there should be "some" some-what scantily clad females, And males with their shirts off with bulging biceps. Did you guys see the Urxen skin I did? Did you notice that I posted a pic of him with no armor up top and I skinned his entire chest and back? Notice the rippling muscles and hair? Even though they are a monster race I wanted them to look cool and powerful, and to a female, maybe even attractive. Is that "realistic" though? Should I expect every male member of the Urxen race to be a big beefy powerhouse? I can tell you now, even though most women I know consider me to be an attractive guy, I'm not some big muscle bound hunk. I'm rather skinny, though admittedly I am cut. Still, should I be offended that the males of all the races seem to put me to shame physically? No, not at all. Why not? Because this is a FANTASY game. Just like in the movies or in most TV shows where all the people look "perfect", the same applies in video games and literature and any other popular medium.

I found always utterly disgusting and annoying that in games like Neverwinter Nights my male wizard was Conan in robes. Altough by itself I don't dislike the Conan stereotype, I prefer the agile and cunning warrior stereotype. My D&D fighter characters are always odd, favouring first dexterity and then intelligence (from D&D 3.0+... 2nd Edition sucked in skill terms so no point to have much intelligence there for a fighter), favouring dual blade style, acrobatics... Certainly not a Conan that has buffed muscles even in the eyelashes. Wonder why I usually prefer to make female characters...

The realism I expect is that of "If you spend lots of hours each day training physically, I expect you to be beefy. If you, on the other hand, spend lots of time in a library studying, I expect you NOT to be beefy.". Action -> Reaction. Totally ignoring things like "beauty" because it doesn't matter (but I would expect some degree of "marks" in those exposed to dangers to health... like arrows, daggers, fireballs...).

That entertaiment sells us some stereotypes... by itself is not bad as long as you don't get carried away. It would be like those fashion companies using Photoshop on their models...

Quoting Raven X,
As a fan of "Fantasy" worlds, I expect certain things in my entertainment. I expect the dudes to be big and strong and kick a lot of ass and I expect the women to have ample lush breasts and an ass so shapely I could bounce a quarter off it. Is that wrong? No, not at all. That's WHY it's called "Fantasy Entertainment". I can get away into a world where everyone is perfect. Unlike the normal reality of me being too skinny or some women thinking they are too chunky or some guys thinking they are too "weak". I want some "Fantasy" in my fantasy games.

My fantasy bias is that magic is real (in whichever universe it happens), which means that it has laws of its own that allow it to work. And there is no real difference with our "science" but in that it may be accessible by only a minority of people (unless it's based on kamis and/or demon pacts...) due to whatever laws the magic system works with. Because if you were in a world with magic, you would consider fantasy a world without it as the presence of magic (whichever its origin and your opinion about it) would be something natural (even if scary or dangerous) for you.

So I expect humans (unless the universe creator determines explicitly otherwise) to be humans and work biologically as such. So a "Cow" female warrior is going to spend lots of money in buying/mantaining the magically enhanced breasts and potions to easy the pain in the back (unless the magical breats already come enchanted for this). And lets not talk about the beauty saloons that both males and female heroes are to visit constantly to keep themselves pretty despite huge battles, skirmishes, dungeon crawling... I remember reading the Moonshaes trilogy and reading about the female protagonist breaking her teeth. It was like: what?? Seriously?? (no, she didn't get them fixed)

I know that my perspective on fantasy isn't fantasish for most of you but sue me for considering anything that it's not the reality I live in is a fantasy. And that unless it's a child fantasy world (where anything is possible because it's fantasy/magic... much like Harry Potter, as interesting as it may be), everything has a reason to be that could be explained "scientifically" (within limits, no need to explain aether quatum mechanics or something).

Quoting Raven X,
In the memorable words of Captain Pickard...Make it so!!!
I prefer "Engage!".

As a comparison someone should post some thong armour pics for comparison... (edit: comparison is a word that needs to be repeated for compariosn)

It really comes down to a question of what fits the world and the character if its a confident women in a world where sexuality isn't bad (unlike ours) then she would probably not wear much to display that confidence like she wears jewelry to show her wealth and a tabard to show her allegiance. But its up to her.

Quoting Empyrean,
Putting boobs on a breastplate is unnecessary since you can strap them down pretty well, and women certainly would do that before fighting.  Adding boobs to armor adds weight and deflects blows towards the sternum.

It's a bad idea.  Realistic armor for women looks like armor for men.  If you want something sexy, well, you're on the Internet.  Go find it.

"Realistically"? Take a trip to the museum kid, you will find that armor did indeed have fitting for a woman's breasts. Not as outlined as in games, but it's there.

Quoting VR_IronMana,
Always find it fascinating where the realism lines are drawn on a game where unrealistic stuff happens on a turn by turn basis.

Taking 1 damage from a lightning bolt smacking you on the head is okay. Fighting at full power when you're a paper cut from death (1 HP out of 100) is okay. Breasts and curves on armor is "going too far".

You are so right! As if everything else was "realistic"

The irony with this thread is males deciding what females would find good or not.

Stand still for awhile and imagine that females might want to have some more exotic armours. And I'm assuming most females will not want to dress up in a bag and shapeless metal tin can in games, they want to have things that define shapes, they want to dress up.

Stop assuming that things are automaticly sexist.

I agree with thread opener, and I know that many females would even agree too, more "hot" female armours.

That's a good point. They would want armors to resemble the rest of their clothes. No more no less. So famless who like to war "functional" clothes would just wear male armors, and females who like more dessed up armors would wear the sexier ones. Seems a very reasonable argument.

If you want to talk about realism, human women wouldn't even be in melee combat. This is because they can't generally can't compete with men in physical activities above the rare exception. This is a fact.

Thus I wouldn't even bother with arguments as boob plates might deflect blows the wrong way.

Yes human females should not be in melee. Its proven that only Elven females were ever in combat. Often female elves were specifically drafted from their tree houses to fight the dragons that plagued the lands in the south of france and the plains of Hungary.

However I don't think this was modeled in the game so I doubt realism should be a concern for the armour since they couldn't even get basic historical stuff like dwarves right.

I'm sure the many people who have died at the hands of a woman would disagree with you... if they could.

It's not always about physical strength.  There are many other qualities which make a good fighter.

I've seen women fight.  It's way scary.  I don't think guys could match the shear meanness girls can muster when their blood is up.  Men fight to win, women fight to kill and rend the eternal soul of their victims into nothingness.  I for one will always run away as fast as I can from a angry woman with a axe,  or anything that they might be able to come up with some way of committing bodily harm to me with.

And btw women is armor can't be sexy because i guess that wearing a piece of metal in combat must make you stink a lot ...

Women are supposed to stay in the capital and have children !

Women can be vindictive.  They'll recall some wrong you committed in the past and attack when you're sleeping.  Just ask John Bobbitt or the people who were out in the field searching for his severed body part.

Who are these people that don't want "hot" female armor, or nice looking armor in general? I'm not seeing them. I'm seeing people who don't want nonsense like chainmail bikinis, and people scolding people who don't want any nice looking armor. What I'm not seeing is the people who don't want any nice looking armor.
