I'm very impressed with the ideas of Elemental and have sunk a number of hours into it since buying it this week.
I'm also a really big fan of Stardock - you guys seem to be invested in doing the right thing and I really appreciate it. So, I don't want this to sound like a rant, because I'm a big fan of the company and the game, and I can't wait until it actually works.
My immediate complaint is that I'm about to have to start the campaign a third time because of incompatible game saves after patches. I've gotten 1-2 patches a day this week, and the last two have busted my saves. I'm pretty tired of the beginning of the campaign! I didn't install the most recent one for several notifications, but finally I broke down thinking "what are the odds that it will screw me twice?"
Pretty high, as it turns out.
I will hold off on the campaign and try to learn sandbox for a while.
I'm also having numerous other issues - sound effects (but not music or ambient) just quitting for no reason, not being able to get on a boat, trouble casting spells, etc. Some have been fixed, but others haven't. It is just frustrating.
I know you guys are working hard, and all things being equal I'd rather have patches.
Is there someway you can warn us when a patch is going to make a savegame incompatible, or is there some way to write a utility to upgrade a saved game file? This is getting a bit much.
That being said, this is one of the most promising games I've played since Morrowind. So kudos for the idea and the game; I think it has a little way to go yet. I am excited about what it can be with some more community input and the continued Stardock commitment to gamer enjoyment.
