Since we've seen several of the same questions over and over again, we know there's some things that are confusing or different for new people. This thread is aimed at helping out.

This first post will be an index to other answers. As I find answers to common questions I'll add them to the top post.

Please feel free to either add a question and answer to this thread, OR post a link to someone else's good answers and I'll add them.

How does Food work?

How do I build farms and other resource buildings?

Is there a way to get a prompt to end turn?

One of the most annoying things for me in this build:

When i move the last of my units and the game ends the turn for me without me checking my buildings to verify if my reasearch options are set up properly

Yes. In the game options, disable "Auto End Turn". You'll have to click the end turn button yourself then, and you can use the idle unit/city buttons at the bottom to try to find things that need your attention.

It won't explicitly throw a prompt up, but it won't just advance on its own. Maybe they can make the "next turn" button blink or something when you have no more possible actions (like how it turns red in Civ 4).

Thanks! I think this option should be on by default, not vice versa

There is an option in the menu called "Enable Auto Turn". If you deselect that option then you will have to press the End Turn button to end the turn.

How do I build farms, mines, and research centers?

These can be built on resource tiles (fertile land, iron mine, gold mine, lost library, and arcane... something?). Once you have a city border that includes it, click on the *resource tile* and you'll see the build option there. You can't build them from the city build screen.
