Hey guys a few questions for ya.

1- How do I know how many times I can move before my turn is over?

2- when I get a quest it says the person points out the location on the map but darn if I see it lol. How do i get to quest location like the escort quests?

3- is there any special things you guys do first when starting out? What is good to research and build etc? thanks...

When you select a unit, look at the bottom UI bar. On the left hand side is the "Vitals" display, which has an entry for Moves. This is how many tiles that unit can move during a turn (I think forests count as 2 moves per tile?)

Unfortunately it's not the easiest spotting them on the 3D map until you get used to how they look. For now, zoom out to the cloth map and the quest destination will be a tile with a very yellow graphic.

I've mostly been playing campaign (what little playing I did), but in the beta you would rarely go wrong sticking to the Civilization tree for a while, to get some housing improvements, as well as money-making improvements. Your second important category should be Warfare, it helps to have combat units early as it's a bad idea to leave undefended cities.

The rest.. play around and see what you like Even for us beta testers the tech trees changed a bit.

Generally I find doing some war research to get some basic weapons better than a pointy stick is a good first move. Diplomacy for the trade tech so you can start caravans as soon as you found new cities is a good move too, then hop between civ and war research till they're level six or so.

It depends on the map though. If there are enemy or potential enemies nearby, or a lot of forests then war research might be a little more important until you can train units to deal with them. If you're lucky enough to have a shard nearby then you might want to focus on magic rather than war to use your spells to the maximum effect. Adventure is a good tree once you're established - it'll reveal more resources and NPC's to recruit as well as give you various quests and booty.

Just a note/question regarding this.  Does it show how many moves are left?  I couldn't figure this one out either and I'm at work right now.

It shows your current number of remaining moves, not the unit's maximum. So if you've got 4 and you move a tile, it'll show 3

Have you found it to be a detriment to get the 2nd city out as soon as you can?
