Character Creation: Professions and Traits

Can anyone comment on the professions and traits available during character creation?

What are the selections for professions?

What selections for positive and negative traits?

What does each do?

How many can you choose?

I've seen screens with different information and realize it may change up to day 0, but information from the end of Beta would be useful for us who weren't in on it.

professions example:

adventurer (which adds +1 move currently)

trait example:

stubborn (Sovereign does not escape combat)

 

those 2 I can post from memory..

Professions:

Miner, Warrior, Bard, Thief, Hunter, Warlord, Merchant, Assassin, Adventurer, Royalty, Dungeon Master

Talents:

Brilliant, Organized, Natural Leader, Tracker, Meditative, Diplomatic, Intimidating, Hardy, Naturalist, Daring

Weaknesses:

Cowardly, Clumsy, Stupid, Blunt, Ugly, Cruel, Outcast, Stubborn, Insane, Inefficient

 

I think it is easy to guess the general significance by their respective name. You have a pool with points to spend on them (the same pool for your attributes, spellbooks etc.), each profession/trait has a specific cost. The weaknesses obviously add new points to the pool because they provide a disadvantage.

Thanks for that list.  Not being in the beta is it hard for me to imagine what these professions and traits do.  So if anyone else has details it would be nice.  From Frog's recent guide I see that:

Bard = lowers cost of recruiting heroes

in beta 4 the professions are

miner, increases the production of mines

warlord, gets two additional sentinal units (that have to be paid for with gildar

warrior, receives an attack bonus

merchant, produces extra gildar per turn

as adronson said bard, lowers the cost of recruiting champions

assasin, attacks from champions deal double damage

thief, more loot after battles

adventurer, more movement per turn

hunter, can build a hunting range on wildgame tiles

royalty, cities have increased prestige

dungeon master, extra damage to creatures

 

and the talents are

brilliant, produces 1 knowledge per turn without city

diplomatic, increases the percieved value of what is traded

organized, armies lead by the sovereign move at the sovereign's speed

intimidating, reduces the enemy morale in combat

natural leader, increases morale of troops with the sovereign

hardy, bonus to sovereign's health

tracker, sovereign gets an extra move per turn

naturalist, a mine is near the sovereign's starting position

meditative, produce one arcane research per turn without cities

daring, 3% chance that sovereign's attacks will bypass defence

 

and the weaknesses

cowardly, increases enemy morale in combat

cruel, lowers morale of army

clumsy, sovereign will randomly get fewer moves pet turn

outcast, no champions near starting position

stupid, increased cost of learning spells

stubborn, sovereign may not retrat from battles

blunt, cost to recruit allies is increased

insane, any city the sovereign is in has reduced prestige

ugly, fewer children

inefficient, construction penalty in city the sovereign is in

 

all of these are from the attributes and talents pages of the sovereign creation screen

Thanks Harpo, this will give me something to puzzle on over the weekend.

Now, one more question.  I assume that you can choose only one profession, but what about traits?  Can you have multiple talents and weaknesses?

I liked Warlord for my mages.

The 2 Guards were nice so I did not spend CPs on the weapon.

Also when you can if your playing a Mage get a bow for them, nice to sit back and save mana in fights.

 

The Disadvantages are heavy, as they should be, these can hurt you alot.

The Advantages can be ok, but some can be made up by Heroes and Champions.

There is a lot of stuff happening in the game.

 

Like as you learn more about Adventuring, the info leaks and would be types try, and mess up sometimes to release horrors into the world.

When your city grows what area do you chose for the Bonus? Money, Tech, Magic, or even Special Guardians?

So many choices, many have far reaching effects.

 

then soon will be the Mods, oh where will they take us, only time will tell.

Well 50 plus the extra from taking Weakness  

But like I said most seem to really hurt.

Maybe not to bad after you get a few cities running though.
