Hi for those of you who are technical I was wondering if you could help me....

I downloaded an application called fraps to monitor my fps, and to my surprise Im average at around 10-15 fps sometimes going as low as 5 fps.

Now I was under the impression the higher fps the better? So why is my fps very low, ive tried adgusting the the video options but nothing seems to improve it. so is this a side effect of beta or can i expect much of the same in the final release version..? Have any of you guys tried monitoring your FPS?

My laptop specs are

Dual core 2.1ghz 800mhz

ATI HD4670 1GB

4GB RAM

Windows 7

With the beta over, there isn't a lot you can do right now. The release version should be faster, but nobody knows how much yet.

yes i know, im just a little worried its running so badly. I know my laptop isnt amazing, however I should be getting better fps, ive put all the graphic settings very low and its still very bad.

I read a journal a few weeks where Frogboy was showing off a screen shot with 65 fps with all the treats switched on , yet my machine struggles on the lowest settings, I suppose I can only hope the new version will run better....... fingers crossed!!

During beta 3 when I had time to do some testing I had FRAPS report fps well below 30 and while the fps reported pretty low the game itself still seemed smooth to me.  Typically above 30 is what is needed for smooth BUT with Elemental similar to Civ 4 the low FPS to me usually only meant a bit of jerkiness when doing a quick pan of the screen.  Normal gameplay seemed unaffected.  So we'll see how it goes.
