I haven't been able to successfully play far enough to find this out. There are blunt weapons and other weapons. Does the game factor in a difference? Are spears/pikes better against cavalry then sword and shield? Do maces do more damage than a sword vs. plate? etc.
right now its still primitive
but if i remember correctly frogboy said he wanted to make different kind of weapons matter
