More crashes today, some of them with a "out of memory" error.
The game spawned me in a little island, with no way to get to other islands, besides getting a boat.
Let's say that I only managed to get it on turn 180 or something (even after getting the harbour, I didn't have the option to build a ship, until one time the option appeared. I have no idea what are the requirements).
That gave me time to build and research a lot, to the point the game started to slow down a little bit, when I zoomed out to cloth and vice versa.
Also, the game always crashes after loading a game without exiting the game first. It might be as soon as I load or a couple turns later, but it will always crash.
I have an nVidia GTX285, on a i7 920 computer with 6GB ram. All running in VIsta 64bits
