Like my spelling, for example.
I have been fairly quiet for a while; I haven't have much time to play and give feedback. Now that I have tried out 3A, there are still a few things that are counter-intuitive or non-optimal. None of these things require new features or anything like that.
The Biggest Thing for me is the order in which notifications arise on a new turn, ande how they interact:
- Research Notification: When the research target it hit, the transition is not as informative as is necessary. Two things happen on that screen: first, you choose the technology from within the realm of possibilities. Second, You choose whether to continue researching on that particular tree.
- It is not super-clear that a player has difinitively choosen a specific tech. If that Tech could simply get a checkmark by it, to let me know that is the one I have choosen before moving on, it would be very helpful. I am a little confused as to whether I am just looking at what I could get in the future or if I had actually choosen something.
- It is incredibly easy to click on the Continue button when actually wanting to select a new tech tree. Not too big of a deal, but if there were some more noticable difference, that would be helpful.
- Selecting a new tech tree pulls up the tech tree menu. Sometimes, if there are other notifications on the same turn, it gets placed further back in priority, so the notifications will go: Research -> Spell Research -> Battle Resaults if a battle during the off turn -> Tech Menu to select new tech tree.
- Spell Research Notification: It lists the spell I just learned as well as the next spell. Could I see just a simple four square progression with the spells that I have cued? The name + icon -> Name + icon -> Name + Icon -> Name + Icon. Is it NEEDED? No. Will it give the game a good feel and the mechanics more use? Yeah.
- Battle Notification: Sometimes there is one, sometime there isn't.
- If there is a battle I did not initiate, I would like a notification saying "Ambushed!" Or if there is a battle I initiated (by marking a spot for my group of dudes to go to, and they attack something there at the end of the turn), I would like something to say "We attacked ______ for the good of our nation! All praise Latveria".
- Once my guys get wiped out, I would love something saying "A wounded combatant made it out to report that the entire acouting party / army was woped out by a superior force." Something that says they died.
Pioneer Improvements:
- We can harvest resources out in the wild, which is cool. Unfortunately, it is hard to know which ones you are able to harvest. Could we get a place to check, other than just the completed tech tree menu, what sort of resources a pioneer is able to build? Someplace with an actual list would be grand.
