I've seen videos of players rotating the camera, but I can't figure out how to do it myself!  I can zoom in and out with the mouse wheel, but how to I change my viewing angle?  Thanks!

Click & hold middle mouse button and move the mouse.   should allow you to change the view in both 3d & cloth map view

Is that the only way?  Is there a keyboard button for this?  My laptop doesn't have a middle mouse button so I'm probably out of luck here.

Scroll wheel or  mouse button 3 should work for the "middle" mouse button.   I don't know the keyboard equivalent, I'm sure there will be one though.

Quoting jecjackal,
I have 8 mouse buttons. I wonder which is the middle...

Well on my wireless one, I had to specifically set a button to act as the third button, the "Middle Button". Because my middle button was designed to be a Universal Scroll button, so when I clicked it it like the normal 3rd button i.e. the Middle Button it wouldn't register here in Elemental as such. So, I remapped one of my other buttons and thus have to hold it down, when spinning the map.

Though on my laptop with my standard plug in 3 button mouse, clicking the central zoom wheel button functions just like a normal Middle mouse button.

And so far I haven't heard of any keyboard combination to do that, and believe me I tried quite a few different ideas on what I thought it might be.

Thanks for the replies.  Holding down the middle button and moving the mouse doesn't seem to work.

I have a Logitech Wireless Mouse with Setpoint Settings installed, (a program which allows me to control what each button does).  I have a feeling this is what's causing the problem.  Currently, the middle button is set to an option called "Auto Scroll," which (when pressed in a document or IE window) creates an icon with two arrows.  Hovering above or below the icon allows me to scroll up or down the page.

I tried changing the middle button from "Auto Scroll" to some other options, but that didn't help (there are so many options to choose from, I didn't quite test them all).  Does anyone have any advice?  Any Logitech/Setpoint users out there?

Gorstagg, what's the name of the setting you remapped the other button to to make it work?

Clicking middle button does not work on my machine. Windows 7 64 bit. Zoom is also haphazard. Why not provide a keyboard equivalent, e.g. SHIFT

Thanks guys. I recently bought a wireless mouse and found I couldn't focus on object, but after changing the wheel button to 'Middle Button' it has solved the problem

they should really add a option in game to change the keybinding for this at least, maybe even other shortcuts if they were up to this but this is  a must i hate using my scroll/mid mouse button to do that just rather use one of my toher 8 buttons, even tho i can change it in  my mouse manager anyway so its no big deal but if the mouse broke then it'd be damn annoying, and yah ppl that dont have a mid mouse button .

Nm werird but in logitech manager in teh app specific button settings for mose the middle mouse button deoesnt come up under any of the (Others) list option for changing it but if u do it therw the main button changer for everything the middle mouse option appears for every button under other, just not the game/app specific shit, damn thats annoying wish i knew a lil more programing.

Oh and to fix it for games wihtout the button set it the logitehch manager at least its the 3rd mouse option called zoom, just click that then hit middle mouse on menu to right of it. then apply

Woot!  Glad Velisx responded so I could see this, since I hadn't been able to rotate the map - ever (and I've been around since the first beta).  Thanks very much - please document somewhere obvious (I forget, is there a key mapping screen in elemental?) for others with this problem.
