Overall it is better than 2.
The AI is still a dork, but at least it doesn't start a war just because. In fact, it never declared war. That said, it didn't really expand either.
When landing some heroes on the beach of an island, I explored and then went back to the shore. The game wouldn't let them back on the boat! [bug]
City management is a bit boring, but at least not tedious like before. That said, I don't recall ever really worrying about building slots. I always seemed to have more than enough.
Reasearched longbow, yet I couldn't make troops or buy them. [bug]
Research was a bit easy. I know I only have 2 of the 5 techs, but without straining I was getting a tech every 3 or 4 turns pretty quickly. The start of the game is a little fast, then end game is silly fast.
I believe the advanced tracking never actually applying and being available again has been noted, just confirming [bug]
got stuck where end turn wouldn't work 2x. Once due to a caravan, once from a transport getting stuck. Deleting the caravan and moving the transport worked to allow it to continue {bug noted elsewhere]
It would be nice if we had some kind of odds calculation for battles as the combat rating doesn't mean much if the target is powerful. I can have 100 and the monster is 60 and still lose. It all seems dependent on attack/defense ratios
Map notes for mulitiple maps
1) More beaches are needed
2) no iron anywhere
3) shards seem to kind of clump in certain sectors of the map. I had none on almost 1/2 the continent, then where the AI had a city there where 3 in the vicinity. Another game I had 5 in my areas including some with 2 in one city.
4) What is the point of the tech for building a market when I can build one before I research it? Sounds like a bug
5) Same with the palace
6) as noted elsewhere, but not every city, I could build a harbor/fishery without being near the water at all.
7) Parties/squads stats don't seem to indicate how powerful they are. It looks like only 1 units stat vs. a total of the group. I am still not sure they even fight with combined stats vs. individual ones.
8) Essense doesn't regenerate. Is that planned?
9) at one point, my children were 20,21, 21 and 22. My king and queen were 27 
10) Is there a limit on caravans? Seems strange that they are so cheap and I can build so many
11) Troop costs seem a bit high with materials and ore, I feel they should be lowered.
12) When you kill other NPCs or even troops, shouldn't you be able to take there weapons and armor? Conversely, when you lose to a monster, shouldn't the items be left on the tile as booty for whoever finds it?
