For who knows what reason, smoothing fonts likes to stack with anti aliasing (which has other issues, see here). The end result is unreadable for some windows, as seen in the accompanying picture. This can be averted by disabling either font smoothing or antialiasing. Also, the performance of the main menu background seemed to drop quite a bit when in kingdom selection (from where the pic is)
