My review based on these videos (over 500MB).
-I like the many customization options for creating your main character, even down to the card, it feels like a real RPG which is very good, everyone likes RPG in anything(Relic realized this a long time ago)
-the ambient sound when viewing the main map is very immersive, hopefully each type of terrain has its own ambient sound scheme.
-the terrain itself feels very solid, especially when you rotate the view, but there needs to be more dense detail on each square, and you should have an option to turn of the square grid of the world so it feels more natural and seamless, even in King's Bounty combat screen you can turn the grid off...or make it toggleable with a simple press of a key, like ALT for example.
-the animation of characters on the world map is good with exception when they stop moving, it is much too abrupt going from moving to standing stance, please make a transitional animation to fix this because you really need to fix it.
-the art style works fine, just like it did for Borderlands, maybe even more here because of the fantasy setting
-fantastic that the appearance of your character changes based on the equipment, even King's Bounty doesn't have that, I was afraid that it will all be made symbolic.
-the gameplay mechanic of building your civilization, research etc. looks to be very streamlined, meaning everything is easily accessible and understandable but with great degree of variations and branching.
Now the most important part, the actual battle.
In all the videos there was a single instance of combat, with a spider, are you seriously trying to tell me that the combat will be that symbolic and underwhelming and that you will not enter the combat arena with greatly detailed and animated units like in King's Bounty or HOMM5 or Disciples 3?
Because if that is the case, please tell me, I might as well forget about it then.
I thought the whole point of this game was to have a great mix of RPG and civilization building, and if the RPG aspect(the combat) is so minimally represented it kinda loses the point because all that other stuff would have been a build up for great combat experiences. If there is no such thing there is nothing to look forward to..
Please explain yourselves...
