Version 1Z2. Earlier versions (prior to 1Z) did not crash on the computer. I updated the video driver and disabled any advanced video features, but it still crashes.

If you mean it crashes right after "Creating World," then try deleting your Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Stardock\Elemental - War of Magic\Screens folder as per this thread:
