[1z] Shields and Bows?

How do I get them?

Sorry - maybe I missed reading something in these fairly exhaustive forums - but even after researching bows and better armor, and shields - I can't seem to equip them to any new units? They're not even listed as being part of a new unit.

Did I miss something obvious (like they are not implemented yet) or some sort of resource thing? Thanks for any help.

I believe you should get Swords and Armor upgrades as you Research Warfare items.

Weapons such as Bows & Crossbows, along with Shields have yet to be implemented, unless I missed something as well

Magic will provide power Rings, but currently have component costs that make them all but inaccessible until we can achieve a LONG game.

Or your Reeeeeealllly patient, and have crushed your enemies down to one city each like I did to cap crystal mines.

I thought that may be the case - I'll just stop researching those options for now.

I have yet to grab a crystal mine - are those used for the rings and the 'change map' spells? (lower terrain, etc)?

No the change map spell uses Earth magic, as well as the earth magic shard if you cap it. The lower terrain has been god send for me.

Ahhhh. I haven't played with magic much beyond getting teleport.

Also fun for making land bridges. I can't wait to flank someone on a magic bridge of earth. And if combined with lower terrain and high mana regen, one could potentially flee with their army into the sea. Hehe... Definately going to be one of the most exciting things to come to a 4X in a long time.

In fact, I have just been inspired to make an artificial continent and build apart from the AI for awhile! Although I will have to sink the area around the shards to keep the AI out of those cities so I get my magics...
