There are a fair number of bugs with the economics system but those will be covered in other posts. Here I'd like to focus on some big picture UI issues.
First, the good news. 0.25 shows a lot of progress and polish from 0.24. I think the economics reporting is heading in the right direction, although it still needs a lot of work. So onto the suggestions.
THE KINGDOM REPORT - right now the kingdom report screen is worse than useless - it actually gives a misleading picture. When I go to the kingdom report, I'd like to see what the total inflow and outflow for the kingdom is. The screen does not report that. Large elements of inflow and outflow are missing. For example, if I build a palace, that generates 10 gp per turn. Where is that 10 gp per turn reported? Not in the kingdom report. Nor is there a clean city report where I can see it either.
I suggest that the kingdom report tie directly to the bottom line change in the gold counter at the bottom of the screen. That is, if I look at the kingdom report, I should be able to tell what my gold count for the next turn will be, and exactly where the money is coming from and going to.
(As a related note, it took me a while to find that gold counter -- the amount of gold and resources available in the kingdom should also be given in the kingdom report).
Similarly, it would be nice if I could go directly to the income source or expense item by clicking on the line item in the kingdom report. Perhaps in the kingdom report there could be expandable categories. For example, building maintenance (assuming that is a cost category). There could be a grand total, then you could drop down to see totals by city, then you could drop down further and see all buildings within a city (or perhaps there could be an alternative to see all buildings by type and then see where each one of them is). If you want to scrap some of them, you could click on it to be taken directly to the appropriate city building screen.
CITY REPORTS - it would be nice to have a summary screen with all cities and their basic statistics. For example, if I want to find every place I have inns, or barracks, right now I have to manually click on each of my cities - or physically scroll the map around and eyeball the icons on the map (although it's great that I can see the layout of each city directly on the map). It would also be nice to be able to directly manage buildings from this summary screen - going directly to the city layout screen by clicking on the appropriate city. And, in particular, it would be nice to be able to delete buildings directly from the summary screen, since there is no need to see the city layout screen for deletions.
UNIT / CITY CYCLING - it would be nice to be able to cycle between units and/or cities via a button or keyboard shortcut. If that capability is currently in the game and I've just missed it, then it should be more prominently labelled.
CARAVANS - I can't tell how caravans work. There are a lot of numbers floating around, but no context and the effects aren't apparent. For example, if a caravan with X gold and Y food arrives in a city, I can't observe any noticeable change in kingdom gold or city food. Not sure if that's a bug or simply not being clear where caravan supplies come from. Are they transfers between cities or are they new creations - i.e., revenue or resource generators? Perhaps the explanation could be incorporated in the flavor text? Alternatively, perhaps in the kingdom report there should be a line item for caravans with mouse-over explanation available.
