Craftable items
1. On the Soveriegn development (initial) screen, have an option to spend points on crafting abilities. Perhaps a normal soveriegn will be able to do normal magic crafting. If negative points are spent then crafting ability is worse, or even non-existant. If addition points are spent then the Soveriegn could not only craft more quickly but also would be able to craft things beyond the skill of 'normal' Soveriegns. Some of my suggestions here would be for soveriegns who invested a lot of their ability points into crafting skill.
2. The 'beyond normal' crafts could be manifested in different ways, for example:
- If normal crafted +2ed armor, he could +3
- If normal crafting could add two characteristics to an item (i.e. physical defense, magic defense), he could add three
- Some active spells that normally could not be attached to items, he could attach.
- Other craftable items are opened..others can just do rings, he can also do earrings so that his crafted item opens up a new 'item slot' on the wearer.
3. If the 'beyond normal' crafter spent the magic research time to open up craft related spells, he could also attach these to the items. For example, if he researched a 'Hidden Spell On Crafted Item' technology, he might be able to put something on the crafted item which only he could use, that others would not see or be aware of when they owned or used the item.
It might work something like this. The crafter's daughter is marrying the son of another soveriegn and, as a wedding present, the crafter gives the son a Ring of Power which shows addition Physical Defense and Magic Attack characteristics. However, he also crafted into the ring a 'tracer' spell so that the wearer's location is always known to the crafter.
We could come up with various other interesting spells to attach...disloyalty, disease, blocked magic, infertility, bad breath (decreases diplomatic ability), or insanity.
Such 'evil' items could be crafted and sold in markets (refer to another of my craft posts in another thread, please) or could be 'discarded' in the territory of another Soveriegn for them to find.
