I saw the Elemental splash screen, then briefly saw the "Brave Adventurer" screen before the game window disappeared.

Were you running in a window or fullscreen? If you edit the prefs.ini in your My Games\Elemental folder and change SkipIntro=0 to SkipIntro=1, does that bypass the crash?
Fullscreen. The crash seems to happen about 25% of time, but I can't find a way to predictably replicate it. I'll try the bypass setting you mentioned and see if that helps at all. Thanks.
