This thread is to help the Devs see quickly what it is the players would like to see added in the game and to organize our thoughts into one "Master List". Special Thanks to Boogiebac (aka ScottyDon't ) and Yarlen for getting this stickied. This list will be categorized to be stream-lined for easy reference. I know a lot of people have ideas that can't be condensed to explain so here's what this thread will be for. When you post a Suggestion, come here and say what your idea is about then post a link to the more Detailed Post. I will Update and Add links to this post every couple of days so our Ideas don't get lost in the forums History. Now the Devs can come here and get a quick list of what ideas there are then hit the link to take them to the idea to see the big picture.

Please try to Categorize your Ideas into one of the following Categories instead of using [Suggestion] This makes it Much Faster to update the list. Thank you for your help and cooperation. Lets help the Devs make the best game possible. ~ Raven X

Example: [Customization] This is my idea..


Customization: This covers all customization ideas. Whether its for units, the Sovereign himself, UI customization, custom/special Items,you name it.

Gameplay: This covers Ideas that will change or enhance Gameplay. Whether it's Economic, Diplomatic, Tactical Combat, etc etc.

Map: These ideas cover anything that goes on the map as far as Tiles (Non City). New ideas for different kinds of structures or other ideas for Tiles.

New Ideas: This category is for any idea that brings something totally New into the game. These ideas are important to get out as early as possible so they can be discussed internally for implementation.

I'll add more Categories if anyone thinks of any. If not then I'll fit the idea in a Category somewhere. All new ideas will go to the Top of their respective Categories listing. Thank you again for your help.


Note: Please bare with me and Understand this thread is a Work in Progress at all times. Some ideas are out of order as far as newness goes. This will be fixed as new ideas are posted and I add them to this list. This thread will be updated every 24 to 48 hours. If I place your idea in the wrong category please tell me and I'll move it. I'm fine with making new categories but keep in mind every time a new category is made this list must be totally re-shuffled and that's a lot of work.

What's the criteria for actually being on this list? If there is none we might as well just browse through the forums. If there is some criteria you have to worry about crybaby drama from people who don't get their suggestion on this list.

The best option here is to give this thread more use by categorizing the suggestions so we could easily find all suggestions related to a certain topic.

No criteria. You have an idea? You post it and leave a link on this thread. All it's for is to help Kryo and the Devs with a little organization. Nothing more, nothing less. The Devs decide what idea's they are going to use.

Though, I could come back and update this every couple of days and put a reply count next to each idea. That way the Devs know at a glance how many replies something has which "could" indicate how popular (or unpopular) a idea is.

I think the only sticky would be an official sticky from Stardock regarding what ideas have brought inspiration and possible game considerations.  Any topic from a member of the community who's not even an employee of Stardock would be questioned by multiple individuals on which are worthy and unworthy.  This could result in multiple topics from different members organizing their own ideal list.


I know the fellas at Stardock are very busy... so I try to create my topics where a quick 10_sec glance reading covers the idea for Elemental.  I've seen some topics which have been multiple long paragraphs and while the information may be important anyone pressed for time would only read the first paragraph or less.  While my responses inside a topic may sometimes be very long paragraphs my original post of a new topic is very easy fast reading... allowing even new members to quickly grasp the idea I'm presenting.

Honestly though I can't get this across enough. This thread is solely to help Organize. It isn't about "which idea is better" or "this idea is just like that idea". It's merely to help them find things at a glance. More then likely I'll keep updating it as needed putting new ideas in the list. If they find a use for it, so be it. If not then the only person's time I'm wasting is my own lol. I just thought it would be a way we could help stream-line our ideas for them to find. I'm sure Kryo has his hands full enough as it is.

Wouldn't it be easier to just edit the main topic instead of posting new entries as a reply? Having to scroll through our replies will get pretty inconveient as this topic grows. Listing the replies sounds like it might not be worth your time. That would be a lot of topics to keep track of and it's usefulness is pretty iffy.

On a related note, if people made topics have a bracketed section like [Trade] or [Interface] would save everyone lots of time as a simple search would get all topics on the subject even if the topic wasn't orginally part of the title. This would be a whole lot easier if there were subforums for different types of suggestions.

Sounds like me.

I prefer the bolding of the important setences for the lazy. When I see someone post just one or two sentences I immediately get the impression that they didn't spend much time on their idea or thinking out consequences of it. We got plenty of time here before the forums get all cluttered up with actual players instead of beta testers so now is a good time to make use of the space. Later on I'm sure we'll all be fighting for attention, but for now these forums are pretty calm.

I planned on doing that yes. First I wanted to see if as new posts were made if people would actually do it themselves. Then if it caught on I imagined Kryo would chose to sticky it or not.

This is some kind of good/bad idea. So I have to read through posts in this topic to find something in the forum. COnsidering the lack of order/topics/something, I find it no different than checking the forum normally.

About criteria selecting topics, maybe one should be used (or a couple or...). If the idea is to offer some good ideas for Stardock to check, better try to offer them the best/most intersting ones. They can roam the forums to check the rest.

Just my little opinion.

(love walls of text when there is time, they are interesting and no one posts in the thread copypasting from Word because they screw my IE and then I lose interest in the thread )

The idea is so that you wouldn't have to read through the entire thread no. Simply scan the list, see an idea you want more info on, and click it. As our Idea posts get more numerous they are bound to go back pages and pages into the forums history and a lot of ideas simply might get lost in the mess. Of course I would update this thread on a continuing basis so all the links to the ideas were at the top of the thread to keep people from having to scroll through all the conversations.

As we can see I am indeed going with "Categories" but I'm keeping them broad. Having some limited Categories to help space things out is needed. This also makes it easier for the Devs to find specific Ideas they are looking for. I don't want to have "too many" Categories though as that will clutter the post and semi defeat the purpose of having a Master List. If the Categories are broken down too small they might as well just head to the main "Idea" forum. That's just my opinion though. I'm open to suggestions.

I also thought about exactly what you just suggested and wait till a post reaches a certain number of replies before I add it to the list. Then I thought that would be like me saying "Well no-one replied to that idea so it's not worthy of the list". Then the poster of that idea might get mad or have his/her feelings hurt. Also that poster might have a GREAT Idea later and not post about it because they thought "well my first idea sucked and it didn't even make the list".

I decided to make sure Every idea gets put on the list from this point on. That's the only way to be Fair. It's not my call to decide which ideas are good and which aren't. That's up to all of us and our debates and what the Devs finally decide. I'm just trying to do my part to help to make sure we get the Best Game Ever. No matter how difficult the task before me may be.

I really like this Raven X.   What a great list.


However, what are you going to do when the list becomes so crazy long that its hardly better than sifting through the forums?  (I guess it has catigories)


I would think that "UI features" would be a category.  But perhaps it isn't really talked about much to get such a thing.   I mean I mention it here, and a few others have brought up Dual-screens, or even 3D goggles.   But its generally pretty low key there.

I've been meaning to start and/or find a good existing dungeon thread to bring up how the UI on dungeons can be improved.  (did I mention dual monitors?)

If the idea is good (by itself and/or the debate it can generate), I doubt very much it'll stay without answers for too long. I don't remember it happening here.  I respect the wish to not to hurt anyone's feelings but people should be more conscious that not everybody might like what they propose and that fact isn't the end of the world or is something personal against them. But just my opinion, I have no problems having everyone here as long as I find it more usefull than browsing the forum itself (even if the thread is more orientated to Stardock).

I suppose that we'll just have to do that manually as thy provide us with features.   The beta list looks like a lot will be in the game by the time Beta 2 rolls around.    And its supposed to be "Fun" by beta 3 since thats when we're getting the 3D version (I believe I heard one of the devs say "beta 2" originally, for the record.  it should be fun single player before too much worry is spent on fun multiplayer.)

Could you maybe fix the format for those for me? Would be Much appreciated. If not I can get around to it. It would just make it easier for me to paste them in without having to go and find every one of them. I find them in the list on the Idea forums page it's-self, copy the title and paste it in my list in the appropriate category. Then I type "by" and the posters name. I found out early that if you copy the posters name too you can't space the links out as I have above. They get bunched together and no matter how many spaces you put in between them they don't separate on the post it's-self, so the posters name can't be copy/pasted as well. Copying the title of the Link to the post retains the post's name in link format just as the poster named it themselves.
