I think the while "misclick" thing can be solved pretty easily: make the tip of the quill pen a different color than the rest, or put a little "sparkly" or "shiny" on it. Then the player's eye will be drawn to that part of the cursor and they'll know "Ah, here's the part that does stuff".

Yes, exactly. I was just thinking this myself. A highlight under cursor would be very helpful. Nezic, you should make an "official" suggestion thread for this.

The quill is definitely not a good cursor because it has two pointed ends at it's corners. Maybe fanning out the feather end of it so the point isn't there would make it better.

I also neglected to mention that when I asked someone nearby what they thought the cursor was they said "a chili pepper". I can't look at it now without seeing a pepper.
