Multiplayer game type: PBW?

So I was thinking about this earlier, and other people had mentioned the different types of TBS multiplayer types there are out there like hotseat. Then I got to thinking that since SD is going to host all MP games would it be possible to have a play-by-web (pbw) game? Similar to the play by email games, I would imagine that everyone would have to be online for the initial setup of the game, but then people could log off and be notified of when it was their turn to make their moves, log back on, make their moves, log off etc without everyone being online at the same time.

This all came to mind as I was reminded of the posts stating that, at least in single player as I remember, that people could be playing a single game over a period of years (I think it was a reference to the 64-bit version). Either way I think it would be a cool idea, but I didn't know if there were any plans for this anywhere.

but, unlike play by e-mail, "play by web" would suggest a web-based interface. I would support it being intergrated with the forums or something like that so that, but I cannot imagine (or want to request) having the game be compatible with web browsers.

Forum intergration I'd like to see is simply that I could send a game requests and hold communication for a game through forums the way one would through a similar interface like GPGnet or Battle.net.

If I understand correctly, the multiplayer back end is based in Impulse, which is quite bluntly IE-dependent. I think the only question here is whether Stardock wants to support both serial and parallel multiplayer. Or at least I hope so for those of us who are multiplayer-curious and 'real-time' averse.

Plus, I can't really imagine playing a decent-sized map in a parallel fashion. I have more free time than most grownups and I'd still find it a real hassle to commit to enough time blocks for me and a few other folks to work our way through even a 'normally ludicrous' map, much less what folks could do with 64-bit machines.
