-= (PRESENTING... YOUR FAVOURITE STARSHIP) =-

Hey people, time to get your cyber hands a little dirty!

Everyone likes to imagine their dream starship, whether so you an play with it on galciv2 or not it's always something we sci-fi fans love to think about. Well now's your time to share.

It doesn't matter if you can not draw for nutts! Just pour your heart and soul into a drawing or picture or model of your dream ship or ships. Let go and have fun, use any program you like. You can even just describe it to the rest of us if you like through text. For those of you with a more creative swing you can even give us the full cinemas experience as you tour us around you ship on a MPEG, AVI, or whatever file.

Just go nutts with it people, lets get Creating!

My favourite starship;

Name: Dave Mengchang
Captian: Number 1 (he looks like his ship)
Crew compliment: unknown
Weapons: Blasters
Defences: Magnetic sheilding
Important notes to remember: This ship's fax machine is located between his lower back and upper thigh . It can even print coins .

Quoting Thoth17,

Dreadnought (a ship built around one big gun)

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x60/thoth17/Dreadnought1.jpg

I actually really like the shape of that Dreadnought - with some development and maybe some sleeker curves that'd be a badass ship.  I see it smooth(ish) on the outside, and super detailed on the grey bit.

Oh and yeah Seth - that reminds me of an idea I had ages ago...battleships (and other sea vessels) deployed from orbit!  I kinda imagined a really exaggerated lower hull that doubles as a heat shield.  In fact.  I might try and make one tonight hehe.

Quoting SSAF,
What kind of programs are you all using to make these ships? I can't find any sort of good open source programs. I tried Google SketchUp, but it's hard to understand. I'll give uber karma to anyone who can help me find a good open source 3d modeler. And karma to anyone who at least tries.

BLENDER!!! Why does nobody here know what that is?

Lol I know of it but haven't used it yet.  My teacher has mentioned it many times.  Its a powerful program condensed in like 6 megabytes of something like that haha

Reduced 75%Original 757 x 375Bam. Two F-303 fighter bays, railguns, missile silos, transporters, beam weapons, an Asgard computer core, and (because this is what really matters) an awesome captain's chair.

Daedalus-class battleship. Maybe not the most powerful, but it's definitely my favorite of all the various starships in all the various sci-fi shows I've watched. (obviously I didn't create this myself. For anyone who doesn't know, it's from the television series Stargate SG-1)

When I saw that my first thought was 'not another marza fanboy' and then I started reading.  Surprise!

Actually, you weren't far off. While I wouldn't consider myself a Marza "fanboy" (it's usually one of the last capships I build), I don't hate the design like so many others seem to; it's designed for functionality, not aesthetics, and it's certainly intimidating.

Mediator Cruiser and Dauntless Cruiser.

Ya both of these are from Star Wars on the Rebel Alliance side. If you got Star Wars Warlords for HW2 or Sins ya you know how sweet these ships are especially the Mediator Cruiser.

that warlock class cruiser from Babylon 5 looks an awful lot loike a Kol Battleship doesnt it?

anyway, my two fav ships are these:

Star trek Soverign Class starship, the enterprise is a Soverign Class in all the latest movies with Picard et al

maybe not the most powerful in terms of weapons, but very adaptable and durable, also, absolutely beautiful

2nd, is a bit of a remix, just made it up while reading posts actually

so, think if the Daedalus-class Battle Cruiser from Stargate, but double it in size. put 8 Kol beam weapons on the front where the forward sensors are, add point defense charged particle cannons to all rail gun turrets on a seperate rotating turret for anti Fighter/Missile support, Place 4 Asgard beam weapons (or even Advent style long range beam weapons) on top of the hangar Bays, 2 each side plus 2 on either side of the fore of the ship. instead of 2 hangar bays, 4 hangars, 2 each side, same place, 'inside' of the hangar bays (as in, closer to the middle of the ship) two Marza style missile bays, as well as the standard missile bays on the original stargate version. Covenant style plasma turrets 4 underneath the dorsal structure and 4 on top, facing port and starboard, as well as 48 wraith style energy energy weapons as found on hive ships. 24 located on top of the ship, in various places, and 24 underneath, as well as 2 Stargate style Drone Launch Bays located on the sides of the dorsal structure just forward of the marza missile banks, 2 Star Trek style phasers located at the front of the dorsal structure and below the nose, as well as 4 at the rear of the ship, near the bridge and, naturally, a whole compliment of nuclear, plasma and antimatter explosive ordinances for transporter delivery, missile delivered or magnetically propelled

thats my dream ship. im thinking of adding a MAC (Magnetic Accelerator Cannon) ala Halo UNSC to the ship somewhere but ive run out of sufficient space, unless i drop 4 of the Kol beam weapons and put it there...

yes i know i stole alot of the ideas, still, i only just made it up right then

regardless, i think it could kick ALOT of ass

dare i say, Chuck could be given a run for his money...

I call this ship the Magnetron, it has the the ability to control electromagnetic fields in a roughly 500 m radius around it.  So it can do things like deflect projectiles, bend light, create laser beams in any direction, smash starship hulls, interfere with electronics, and make dimensional jumps.  It's only the size of a light freighter, but given a choice of any ship, this is the one I would pick.

If you're so paranoid about it, put huge, hard-to-remove watermarks. From what I've seen, it seems you're just using it as an excuse for not actually being good at modelling/creating these. Either that or, frankly, shut up and stop bragging about things you don't even show us...

Anyway, I'd have to say chimpspanner's get my vote.
