Quoting taltamir,
speaking of mom, since elemental is supposedly a spiritual successor... how similar do you think it would be?

Its a turn based game set in a fantasy world where you build an empire and become a powerful wizard. Those things are somewhat similar, although the execution is quite different. Other then that there are a lot of differences between the games.

I would not try and compare it to anything really, you might get dissapointed that way. Just try to judge it on its own merits. Its going to be quite an unique game I feel!

I agree.  Just like comparing GalCiv2 to MOO.  Same concept, different results.  Ready for Beta 0!

I really enjoyed Lords of Magic, and I've always wanted something to replace and update it. You know I'm on board for this game.

Is there a way to confirm that I preordered? I don't think I got an email when I did.

Just want to make sure I don't miss out on the beta.

Check your registrations in Impulse.  Either the app or www.impulsedriven.net.  I can see my pre-order there.

If you used TGN tokens to pre-order, Impulse does not seem to know about it yet. But you can sign back into totalgaming.net and verify that the tokens were 'spent.'

Uhoh... preordered in November and Elemental does not show up in my registrations.
Time to send an email to SD I guess.

Won't show up in Registrations until it's available to download.

That's contradicting Windisch previous statement

But no worries, I'll ask SD directly either by email or on irc.

Hmm, I'm thinking about it, but I don't want to rush in blindly

It's still costs a faire ammount of money...

I'll most likely wait for beta 0 to show up

I checked my Registrations the day after using my TGN tokens.  Elemental Pre-order was there.  Let me check again.

Edit:
Here is a screen shot of my registrations page on impulsdriven.net

Is that a web site vs. the web-whatever we see in Impulse? I didn't see anything like 'Registrations' in the Impulse app-thing. Seems odd to have such an important bit of data not easily found in the thing we use to install and update stuff. Am I just too old to see some 'obvious' chunk of graphics I should be clicking?

That is on impulsedriven.net.  You can login there and look at your registrations.  Don't have Impulse installed at work.

I believe you can see the same thing in Impulse.  Click on community and my account/registrations.  Something like that.

Well put that down for my Nth gripe about the Impulse UI. Burying something as important as my registrations several clicks into Community area is just not 'intuitive,' at least for my intuition.

Thanks for the info.

Hi,

I preordered in November, but I have not got it on my registrations on impulse. I thought it wasn't there because it wasn't released.

Should I be worried?

*I have got a order number and an email receit.

I wouldn't say you should be worried.  You have your records proving the purchase.  I preordered recently on their old system.  That could be the reason mine shows up.

Quoting MatBerryman2,
...Should I be worried? ...

I agree with Windish about not worrying, but you might want to contact support@stardock.com before the beta is posted, at least if you want to install ASAP. If it isn't in your Registrations, it sounds like there was a bump in the system somewhere.

If you preordered Elemental using tokens, a registration has already been added to your account, but is not active.  This is because we have already deducted the tokens from your balance.

If you preordered Elemental using a credit/debit card, a registration will not be added until the beta comes out.  This is because we will not charge your credit/debit card until the beta becomes available.

Regardless of what you used to preorder Elemental, everyone's registrations will become active and valid at the same time.  You're all on even ground and will be ready to go when the beta is released.

Unless you are a lucky cute dog and get into the alpha if it happens. In which case I suppose that you will be charged before the rest of mere mortals.

Ok, so it was because I used tokens.  Makes sense.

New proposal for the way to pick the users who get in the alpha....pick the people with the game already in their registration page....

NO users get into the alpha, that is why it is an alpha, it is an internal incomplete build used by developers... when its in beta it is being tested (say, by users)... there is likely to be a closed beta before the one available to all preorderers.

It's better to do your research before spewing out what you think you know.  Yes Alphas are typically only for internal testing, but not always.

From Frogboy:

"I can say that Beta 0 is not going to happen in June now.  We might be able to do an Alpha then but that will only go out to a very tiny number of people (maybe 100 tops).  I’m reserving 10 places and the rest will come from the pre-order pool as a lottery with points given to those who have GalCiv II + Sins + Demigod.  Beta 0 would likely be July at this point but I’ll know more at the end of the week."
